Functions of the Human Resource Department include recruitment, personnel policies and regulatory compliance. It provides assistance to all departments within Tribal Operations in the formulation of policies and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, placement, orientation and benefits which will keep pace with the ever changing needs of the organization.

Native American preference policy applies to all Sac & Fox Tribal Positions.

The department plays a vital role in the implementation of the Tribe’s Strategic Planning. This includes constant review and evaluation, open door communication styles, team building, collaboration and employee growth. Its current focuses include:

• Youth & Elders: The department is working to develop apprenticeship programs and a Community Index Pool (CIP) to prepare members to fill future roles in the workforce and keep a current database of Tribal member’s skill sets.
• Economic Diversification: The department is partnering with other entities to develop programs designed to support employment and training activities which will more fully develop the Tribe’s workforce, promote economic development, and help create future Tribal leaders and entrepreneurs.
• Effective Self-Governance: Programs are administered in ways that not only meet regulatory requirements but also in ways that are consistent with the traditional, cultural values and beliefs of the Tribe.
• Education: The department is developing in-house staff training and on-going educational opportunities for staff members as well as succession planning to mentor and develop the leaders of tomorrow.
